Avocados

Ripening and Storage

Ripening your own avocados means being able to have ripe fruit exactly as you like them, on hand almost year round.

We ship avocados within a day of picking and on arrival we suggest you put some fruit into your fruit bowl to ripen and put the rest into the fruit and vegetable storage compartment in your fridge. This enables you to remove and ripen a few fruit at a time as required.

Fruit that is kept at room temperature and begins to darken and ripen before you need it can be put into the fridge and removed 1-2 days before required to completely ripen. Putting fruit in the fridge will dramatically slow the ripening process.

By using the fruit and vegetable storage compartments in your fridge you can control the ripening over the entire month. With a little practice it is easy and convenient to have quality avocados exactly as you like them available at anytime.

Ripening times vary during the season. Fruit kept at room temperature will take between 5-10 days to ripen.

Tips:

Keep fruit in a bowl where you can observe them ripening and use as required.
Do not expose your avocados to direct sunlight or high temperature.
Do not over-chill or freeze.
